The Mechanical Engineering Department at VPKBIET Baramati is dedicated to give experiential learning experience to students through hands-on-training, by well qualified and experienced faculty from world's reputed institutions. We believe the true learning experience from academic delivery can be achieved through teaching innovations, mentoring practice, and creation of knowledge from experiments.

The department aims at preparing our students for various industrial sectors as versatile engineers, hence offers rigorous courses in diverse specializations in mechanical engineering. Our state-of-the-art laboratories, and dedicated faculties are successful mentors, researchers, and teachers backed by visionary higher authorities and management. The department's mission is threefold, aimed at not only students, faculty, and industry, but also the community on a local and national level. Preparing students for careers in industry, academia, or government by fostering in them the technical capabilities and interpersonal skills necessary to succeeding in their fields, as well as the foundation for lifelong learning. The research opportunities available with us are not limited to faculty and masters students; our undergraduate students work alongside many faculty members. Our student-led emerging technology centers and design groups, under the guidance of faculty members, are always seeking opportunities from industry to collaborate on research and projects.

    Students' Participation


    A total of 72 students from the Mechanical Engineering Department participated in the internal hackathon, forming 12 teams, out of which 9 teams were nominated for the next stage of the Smart India Hackathon 2024. The teams tackled diverse problem statements such as hybrid energy modeling, aerospace redesign, fire suppression for EVs, smart irrigation, and logistics drones, leveraging AI, 3D printing, and automation.


    Alumni interaction session by Mr. Anoop Rode (2019-20 passout_MECH) to TE Mechanical students conducted on 14th August 2023.. Currently Mr Anoop Rode is pursuing MS in Mechatronics in Germany. He interacted with students and gave insights on How to prepare for MS in various countries, Skills requirements in various domains and many other aspects related to higher study. Students’ doubts were also clarified by him and he was assured to give extended help to get admission for admission to MS. Prof. S. H. Kumbhar took initiative and organized this session.


    The department of Mechanical Engineering organized a technical event ELYSIUM 2023 on October 27 and 28, 2023. The ELYSIUM Tech Event encompassed various segments, including Tech Hackathon, Shark Tank, Robo Race Challenge, Quiz Olympiad, Halloween Celebration, Game Zone, Treasurer Hunt, and Auto-Mech Software Solutions. More than 1000 students from different colleges participated in this event. It provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and exchange ideas. Participants explored the realms of technology, entrepreneurship, and problem-solving.

    MIT World Peace University's ASHRAE Student Branch in association with ASHRAE Pune Chapter organized a workshop on “Sustainable Developments in the field of HVACR” on 25th Feb, 2023. 14 students along with one faculty member participated from VPKBIET BARAMATI. A QUIZ Contest was also organized and Ms. Arpita Aadki, a student of SE-Mechanical from our institute, won the 1st prize in this quiz contest.

    Capgemini CAD-CAX NX Customization training has been started under MoU between VP & Capgemini. Final Year students have started self-paced learning on C# Language which will be followed by NX customization. This training is conducted in online mode during 26th March to 20th April 2022.


    Mr. Borawake Ajinkya Rajendra, student of TE-Mechanical, completed a one month internship in Human Resources Group at Aashman Foundation during 18th August - 18th November, 2021. During this period, he was associated with Aashman Foundation in the capacity of intern and completed internship with three star performance.


    Mr. Adhav Omkar Dada, student of SE-Mechanical completed “30 Days Renewable Energy Master Class”. This one month course was conducted at Pantech e learning pvt. Ltd, Chennai through online mode during, 17th October - 16th November, 2021.


    Mr. Rohit Mahavir Gandhi from BE-Mechanical won the First Prize in the 7th edition of the four-day India International Science Festival (IISF) held in Panaji, Goa, from December 10th to 14th , 2021. The festival theme in 2021 was “Celebrating Creativity in Science, Technology and Innovation for Prosperous India”. The Goa-based National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR), under the Ministry of Earth Sciences, is the nodal agency to organize IISF 2021. The festival was organized jointly with the Departments of Atomic Energy (DAE), Science and Technology (DST), Biotechnology (DBT), Space (DoS) and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR).

    Events conducted under SAEINDIA Collegiate club
    Department of Mechanical Engineering has successfully organized two days technical event “Elysium-2K19” during 13-14th September 2019 under SAE collegiate club. Interdisciplinary events were organized and about 800-900 students from our institute and from outside institute participated in various events. The event was inaugurated in presence of chief guest, Shri. Dr. Nishikant V. Deshpande, Ex. Director, NIT Silchar, Assam, Hon. Principal, Dean Academics and other dignitaries. The chief guest for the valedictory function was Shri. Kishor M. Bhapkar, Exce. Vice President, ISMT ltd, Baramati.
    Department of Mechanical Engineering organised a Two-Day Technical Event -Elysium-2K18 on 21 and 22 September 2018 under SAE Collegiate Club. During this event, interdisciplinary activities were organized and 800 students from our institute and other institutes participated in various activities. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Chief Guest, Shri. S.B. Patil, Senior H.R. Manager, Bharat Forge, Baramati, Hon. Principal, Dr. R S Bichkar and other dignitaries. Various events like Paper-Pen Thought, Get Hired, Poster Presentation, Technical Quiz, Talk War, Treasure Hunt and Game war were organized.
