"The First Year Engineering Department at Vidya Pratishthan’s Kamalnayan Bajaj Institute of Engineering and Technology provides a robust academic foundation in Mathematics Physics and Chemistry, along with foundational courses in major engineering disciplines. In alignment with the NEP framework, the curriculum also integrates courses like the Indian Knowledge System, communication & professional skills, physical education and various co-curricular activities to support the holistic development of students. Our goal is to create a collaborative learning environment where theoretical knowledge is applied to practical engineering challenges.

Before the commencement of academics, newly admitted students of B.Tech., undergo a Students’ Induction Programme. This program introduces them to the institutional policies, processes, practices, culture, and values while forming mentor groups. Students are also introduced to a variety of college activities, including NSS, professional bodies, student clubs, and athletics. The faculty and staff are committed to provide mentorship, counseling, and academic guidance, throughout the academics. Departmental policy mandates strict monitoring of attendance and internal assessments to uphold academic standards and student readiness for their engineering studies.

    The General Sciences Department is committed to provide quality technical education in line with the requirements of today's competitive academic requirement and fast paced technological developments. The department provides a conducive environment for harnessing the potential of students through systematic and effective planning and control of teaching & learning processes. To supplement our core teaching and learning processes, we organize a variety of activities, including technical competitions, Guest lectures by renowned personalities, Cultural events and sports competitions that foster teamwork, leadership, and personal growth. These activities are essential for developing well-rounded individuals who are not only knowledgeable but also creative and adaptable. The department has highly qualified and competent faculty with extensive research experience.
    The mission of the Department of General Sciences and Engineering is to provide in-depth knowledge to the students in Basic sciences so that they will be ready to provide solutions to scientific and technological challenges in their field of study and for the benefit of the society. To develop a communicative approach among students through language lab activities.

    Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

    Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

    Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

    Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

    Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modelling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

    The engineer and society: The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

    Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

    Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

    Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

    Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions

    Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

    ‘Kurukshetra-2024’: First Year Engineering Department won the “Best Department” for sports among eight departments, in Kurukshetra-2024.


    Mr. Sanskar Shivsharan, of FY-ME one of the winning team of the Inter-Collegiate Badminton Tournament organized by SPPU, Pune. A total 32 colleges affiliated with SPPU participated in the competition. The Boy’s team of VPKBIET won the tournament.


    Ms. Vedika Atul Kulthe, FY AI-A, has attended 04 days, "9th Indian International Science Festival-2023", held at Faridabad, Haryana from 17 to 20 January 2024.


    Ms. Sanskriti Lonkar, from IT division, has participated in “Swararang-23” organized by SPPU, Pune and TC College of ASC, Baramati, and won the first prize in Classical Individual Dance. She also participated in “Nrityachakra” at Chandrashekar Agashi College ground, Pune. Over 1188 Kathak dancers from Maharashtra performed Kathak at the same time.
